Quickly find out your routers Public and Private IP addresses
What's My Router IPs Application
A router has both a public (WAN) and private (LAN) ip address that are available to the outside world and your local network respectively.
If you need to access your home network from the outside world you'll need the Public IP.
To configure your Router to allow for access from the outside world you'll need to configure it through the web-interface that usually is found on the Local IP.
