Formula Explorer helps you trace precedents effortlessly. Precedent cells are highlighted in blue, and selecting a row takes you directly to that cell. Explore each layer of the formula calculation within the same window, navigating with your mouse or keyboard arrows. Click anywhere in the formula itself to quickly jump to the element and its value.
Handle even the trickiest formulas with ease. Formula Explorer makes it easy to analyze complex calculations. Logical functions (IF, IFS, CHOOSE) show active branches in bold, while VLOOKUP, OFFSET, INDEX, and INDIRECT functions display their target locations.

After installing the Formula Explorer extension, you'll be prompted to log in with your Google account on first use. A free license will be automatically activated upon login.
We adhere to the principle of least privilege and do not request access to your Google Sheets data during login. Formula Explorer will only request access to your data when performing formula evaluations. This access is necessary to retrieve intermediate values within the formula tree.
If access is not granted, Formula Explorer will still display the structure of the formula and allow you to navigate to precedent cells that do not require evaluation. However, the values will not be displayed.
