The 10 best RPG games
Collecting the best Western-style RPGs is not a simple task. That's why we have opted for 10 titles that are not only essential RPG but also are topical. Adventures that will mark you forever. not only RPG but find a wide category of similar games for your favorite games at similargaming.com
In this selection of the best role-playing games, we start from Western-style RPG sagas (for future deliveries there will be turn-based combats and the predefined characters typical of the Japanese role ). Although we have selected the latest installments of sagas such as Fallout, Elder Scrolls or Mass Effect, it is a topical issue.
As in any selection, we have left out authentic masterpieces, such as Baldur's Gate saga, Vampire The Masquerade, Divinity Original Sin or Planetscape: Torment, but you have to put the limit somewhere. We have not included MMO- type games, such as World of Warcraft or Star Wars The Old Republic, since it is a genre that could have its own classification.
So take patience, and of course, do not forget to propose in your comments the essential RPG that we may have been left in the ink. Remember that they are not listed in any particular order. If you have not tried any of the games listed below, you do not know what an adventure is:
Fallout 4 - Bethesda - 2015
Without a doubt, one of the most important titles of the year. It is a gigantic RPG, set in a world that has survived the nuclear apocalypse, and which is full of mutants, synths, and dangerous maracas. The fourth installment of the saga (here you can read our analysis of Fallout 4 ) did not stand out for its visual section, but the possibilities were endless. One of the best RPGs in history.
Skyrim - Bethesda - 2011
If Fallout is set in the future, The Elder Scrolls takes us into a world of heroic fantasy. In this installment (which came preceded by the brilliant Morrowind and Oblivion ) we walked through a world of Nordic ambiance, playing the role of Dovakhin, or dragon blood. Open world, countless side quests and some bugs marked this Bethesda RPG. Here you can read our analysis of Skyrim.
The WitcSkyrim.ld Hunt - CD Project RED - 2015
For our readers, it has been the best game of the year. CD Projekt RED, the developer based in Warsaw, took out a huge game, starring the incomparable Geralt de Rivia. Our mission is to hunt monsters, decide on the company of Triss Merigold or Yennefer and recover Ciri, who flees from the Wild Hunt. Each of his secondary missions would give for a complete game. Of course, you can see it in our analysis of The Witcher 3.
Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin - From Software - 2015
Not only is it one of the most difficult games of the moment. It is also the vision - dark and medieval - of what the Western role should be according to a Japanese study. In addition to this \"remake\". Miyazaki has also managed to impress us with Bloodborne and has one of the most anticipated games of the year, Dark Souls III. Here you can \"suffer\" with the analysis of Dark Souls 2.
Mass Effect 3 - Bioware - 2012
The end of the war with the reapers (and the epic conclusion ed the trilogy of the commander Shepard) is one of the best RPGs of space setting. Next year we can enjoy Mass Effect Andromeda, also collaboration of EA and Bioware, but meanwhile, it is worth remembering our analysis of Mass Effect 3 , which was released on PS3, PC, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
Dragon Age Inquisition - Bioware - 2014
Here you can see our analysis of Dragon Age Inquisition . This is another huge sword and sorcery adventure, which is also topped with multiplayer for 4 friends. Like all Bioware games , the possibility of developing the character (and the relationships between them) is the best. An essential role play , within the Western approach.
Pillars of Eternity - Obsidian - 2015
Obsidian, the studio responsible for the Baldur's Gate series, managed to launch this excellent title a year ago, funded by Kickstarter. As you can see in our analysis of Pillars of Eternity, it is a classic RPG in isometric perspective, which allows us to control several characters. It has a great atmosphere, which recovers the classic elements of the 90s, and is topped with a great combat system.
Diablo III Reaper of Souls - Blizzard - 2014
It is a \"dungeon crawler\" that maximizes the format. As we discussed in our analysis of Diablo III Reaper of Souls (which later appeared on PS4 and Xbox One with ultimate Evil Edition ) is a version of Diablo III that eliminates the auction house, includes a new character, the crusader and results just as fun
Deus Ex - Ion Storm - 2000
Why have not we put Human Revolution on this list? Because the latest adventures of Adam Jensen (including the upcoming Deus Ex Mankind Divided ) have derived a bit more action and infiltration than the Western-style RPG. They are still excellent games, but if you want to try the best cyberpunk role-playing game, our advice is that you return to the origin of the saga.
System Shock 2 - Irrational Games - 1999
This game role of science fiction could be considered the spiritual father of Bioshock (also from Irrational Games ). It is more focused on exploration than on shootings, but one of its main strengths is that it could be overcome by following many different styles of play. The setting, although its technical section has gone out of fashion, is overwhelming.
