Very unsatisfactory customer service
By maddi1345
I never normally write reviews, but I purchased the premium a year ago and rarely used the application afterwards as I’d found much better apps and systems for finding good chord progressions. I didn’t know there was an auto renewal process and didn’t receive any lead up emails about it (I forgot this app existed), normally good companies will send follow up emails to customers who they see aren’t interacting with their product much and also a notice for auto renewal. I got none of that and was charged $99, I saw this on my bank statement the following day and emailed them asking if I could please refund and cancel as I haven’t used this app in so long and I had no idea about the auto renewal. Per their policy they don’t allow this even if it’s by one day, I’m cancelling immediately and I’m so irritated that they wouldn’t even allow me to pay for this month and refund the rest. It’s how these companies get you, and don’t truly care for their customers experience whatsoever.

Bought the premium subscription to transfer midi data. Saved 10 progressions that I would end up using. Open app the next day to start the process and all the progressions are gone. Went straight to cancel the subscription, are you kidding me?
Fun App But Too Costly For Limited Features
By Needforname
I commend the developer for creating a useful tool for quick chord arrangements over a beat. The best perk of the app in my opinion is the various arpeggiated chord playbacks. + + Where the app falls short is that it lacks the features that would make it great. For example.. + + 1) There’s no way to limit the custom chords to chords that play well alongside your existing chords. + + 2) There’s no option to construct actual song layouts. I find it odd that the app limits you to just 4 chords rather than allowing you to build & arrange a series of stacked progressions similar to what you’d see in a DAW. + + 3) There’s no back button or history feature for instances where you accidentally hit the wrong button. I’ve lost whatever I was working on multiple times because of this. I’ve also lost progressions that I had just got finished recording & was in the process of saving… as I’m typing in the name of the file I accidentally hit the wrong part of the screen & the entire saved file becomes gone for good. + + 4) You can’t record while singing over top of the progression. It only records what’s playing. You can play notes on the keyboard though (they record). + + 5) Being able to play notes on the keyboard display is a handy feature (allows you to explore melodies overtop of the chord progression that’s playing), but because the keys are so thin & small (even on my iPhone Pro Max’s larger screen), I end up hitting the wrong notes (keys) nearly half of the time. This issue could be remedied by allowing a zoomed in view of the keyboard. + + 6) When a chord progression is being played, the app displays the notes of each chord in blue color. While this is a nice feature, it’s very interfering when trying to play melody notes on the keyboard. An option to quickly disable & re-enable this auto display of chord notes would help with this. + + 7) Sometimes when I go to save a progression, it doesn’t actually save despite it saying that it’s been saved. I even tried refreshing the screen where saved progressions are listed, but for whatever reason the progression just wouldn’t save. This has happened a couple of times already, despite only using the app for a brief time so far. + + 8) There have been a few times where the key transposing dropdown doesn’t work. When I go to change the key of the active progression, it fails to update the key change; while other times it works just fine. + + Because of these issues & limitations, I can’t see the justification for the steep cost of this app. Especially since you can pretty much do everything this app can do (& more) with GarageBand (which is free & includes more advanced features). The one thing I like about smaller apps with specific purposes is they are often simpler & quicker to work in. But there’s only so much sacrifice I’m able to accept, especially with apps this costly. + + If the developer would fix the mentioned issues & make this app more customizable, user friendly, & useful as an actual songwriting tool; I could maybe see paying $6 / month. But for what it currently is, & the developer’s seeming lack of replies to user comments, bug reports & feature requests; I think I’m gonna have to pass on this. Especially since GB seems to cover these bases & more. + + On an end note, I agree with the numerous users who find your “I’d rather avoid improving as a musician” call-to-action pay screen message, to be quite annoying & pushy. The fact you’ve left it up despite numerous sentiments similar to mine, implies to me that you either don’t read these comments or don’t care. I’m not trying to be rude, just providing honest feedback.
