OU Study is the new companion app for OU Module websites and will be replacing the OU Anywhere app from June 2021. The full list of available modules and the roll-out plan is available at www.open.ac.uk/oustudyapp www.open.ac.uk/oustudyapp You will need to sign in using your Open University Username and Password (the same one you use to sign into the website). The OU Study app is for enrolled students who are registered on a course or qualification. Free or paid-for learning content from partner websites (such as OpenLearn or FutureLearn) will not be available in the app. Features of the OU Study app include: • Always having your study planner to hand • Having access to your learning materials on the go • Being able to download your learning materials to use offline • Reading and responding to module forum posts For more information about the app and how to download it: • Go to the OU Study app support guide www.open.ac.uk/oustudyapp • Read the OU Study one-page overview https://bit.ly/2BdtVhc • Watch the OU Study introductory video https://youtu.be/Nqbo7SL4ZJM If you have any feedback or would like to suggest some ideas for the app, you can get in touch by using the Feedback function within the app, available through the Settings menu or by leaving a review. We regret that we can’t always reply to these directly, but we’re keen to hear your thoughts and have already prioritised requirements based on feedback given by students. For any urgent or access queries, contact the computing helpdesk at [email protected] THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE USING THE APP - You are likely to find that the app takes a few minutes to load the first time you use it as there is a lot of information in your module website, so we recommend using a Wi-Fi connection for your first use. The app will get quicker the more you use it, as it will cache some of the information, but please be a little patient with it at first. - Not all activities will be available in the app, but links will take you to the mobile version of the website where needed. This will include things like quizzes and collaborative activities such as discussions, blogs, wikis and OpenStudio. - Links to other OU websites such as StudentHome, the Library and Study sites will open in your mobile browser. - On your module website, the study planner always opens on the current week, based on the date. In the app, you can choose to see the current week, or if you select a different week, it will remember this for you the next time you use the app (instead of always returning to the current week). This means it will be quicker for you to start where you left off but it also means you won’t have key dates surfaced as easily if you’re studying at a different pace than the module. In the future, we will introduce notifications to help keep you informed about upcoming dates but for now, you will be responsible for keeping an eye on your key dates for assessments and tutorials when using the app. You will need to check these regularly using the Assessment and Tutorials pages, or by using the desktop and mobile versions of your module website. - The Study planner progress tracking (tick boxes and progress bar) are synced between the app and your module website, which means if you tick an activity as done on the app, the change will be made to your module website, and vice versa. - Any activities you complete in the app that can be saved, like answering questions, are synced between the app and the website.
