Overview
This app is designed to make copy of your SMS communication, but copy outside cloud and similar things (export it). Since v.1909, it can also import SMS (from own file).
It can be treated as replacement for "Contacts + Message Backup" that stops working long ago.
It has two modes:
1. create on demand copy of your SMS/MMS communication:
a) full (can take long time; be patient and observe counting on screen)
b) from today
2. automatically create copy mentioned in 1.b , about midnight
All files are placed on SD card, in folder \DataLogs\BackupSMS, subfolder year, subfolder month (e.g. \DataLogs\BackupSMS\2018\11).
When there is no SD card, exported data can be shared.
Files are in text file, with values separated by "|" (similar to CSV), without any encryption. So please take care of them.
App requires access to:
a) your communication, to be able to make export of it (or import it);
b) to your contact, to change phone numbers to contact names (read-only access).
What's new
v10.2105
* when there is no SD card, exported data can be shared
* text on button \'since \' is updated after export
v10.2010
* it backups also MMS: texts, and JPG pictures.
v.10.2004:
* counter displayed while doing backup is now prefixed with \'batch\' (as it is counts not SMS, but batches, one batch is about 20 SMS)
* optimization of resolving contact name - now backing up 5200 SMS in 135 seconds (~40 SMS per second)
v.10.1909:
* app is migrated from VB/UWP to C#/Platform Uno - next step would be same app also for iOS/Android
* there is also IMPORT (on desktop, it doesn\'t fail but also doesn\'t work: Windows doesn\'t signalling any error to app). Warning: import can lead to duplicate messages!
* files are created with "full" or "since" words in filenames (or without them, if file is \'daily\')
* after export, app shows number of exported SMSs
* bugfix: messages in exported file were duplicated
v.1.1907:
ProgressRing hides after creating backup
v.1.1904: (changed numbering scheme)
added progressRing while processing
small corrections in code
v1.2.5: app tests if SD card is accessible, and if not - disable actions
v1.2.3: one more runtime test
v1.2:
* added exporting \'since last export\'
* exporting all SMS - it remembers how many batches of SMS it gets from system last time, and shows this info while exporting next time
* when app has no permission to contact, it appends \'???\' string as contact name, and not fail
