Overview
The application can be proper solution in case you need to get orientation in new (or poor documented) database. As a database tool it can be useful for IT analysts, consultants, database specialists, SQL developers, and programmers. Especially when they need to:
✅ create complex SQL SELECT commands in visual way by simple mouse clicks, with special JOIN conditions editor (with datatype compatibility
highlighting, and more),
✅ get an orientation in new database (or poor documented database) by VISUALIZATION TABLE RELATIONS with their CONSTRAINTS, as well as
whole REFERENCING HIERARCHY of selected table (what tables refer to the selected table, and where the selected table refers to),
✅ get a LIST of database objects where some table (or other database object) is used,
✅ get an advanced PROFILE of selected table (indexes, constraints, duplicities, and other info), or create an advanced data filter upon the
selected table,
✅ search for a specified value with ADVANCED OPTIONS in all database tables.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
❗ The database account under which you are will try to log on into the SQL Server through this application must have sufficient permissions for selecting from SQL Server's system tables, creating cursors as well as temporal tables. Otherwise the application does not have to work properly and stable. (The other option for resolving this issue is to restore the database locally on your machine).
TIP:
☝ Every module of the application has its own "How to Start" item in the ribbon menu. It's a very short quickstart guide for work with the module.
If you have to work with new/large SQL Server database, the application should help you if you want to:
⏵ Search for value in all database tables and database object definitions,
- when you want to get all table names, columns, and records where some value is stored,
- when you want to get the list of database objects names and definitions (stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views) where searched
value appears,
- when you want to determine places where modifications in certain database object can cause unwanted impacts to tables and other database
objects.
⏵ Check the relationships based on constraints between database tables, whole relationship hierarchy, and localize the database objects (stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views) in which the table is used,
- if you need a list (or whole hierarchy) of related tables who refer to the selected table,
- if you need a list (or whole hierarchy) of related tables to which the selected table refers,
(useful by SELECT command building, or when you want to check the place(s) that may cause some problems regarding data integrity and
consistence, or if you want to make some changes in certain table and you want to know the places where future changes will have impact).
⏵ Build a SQL SELECT command using visual designer (or builder), where you can see related tables (what refers to the selected table and where the selected table refers to) which can be useful by joining the multiple tables, or if you have to create advanced data filtering, and others.
⏵ Browse for table data, check for table columns, indexes, constrains, get table information, and other, i.e.:
- if you need to check column data types and table indexes by SELECT command building,
- if you need to check table constraints by INSERT and UPDATE command building,
- if you need to quick browse and search in table data,
- if you need to get some statistics about the selected table like count of rows, size in [MB], creation date, ...
- if you need to get the list of tables used in selected view.
