Overview
ProVAL (Profile Viewing and Analysis) is an engineering software application used to view and analyze pavement profiles. It is easy to use, yet powerful enough to perform many types of profile analyses. ProVAL is a product sponsored by the US Transportation Pooled Fund (TPF) Study: TPF-5(354) Improving the Quality of Highway Profile Measurement.
Major Changes in 4.0
• Windows 10 v1903 is the minimum supported operating system.
• 64-bit Windows is required.
• Added curling and warping analysis.
• Added profile screener analysis.
• PPF files exported by ProVAL 4 use version 1.06 of the Pavement Profile Format defined in ASTM E2560. These files are not usable by previous versions of ProVAL and may not be usable in other software.
• Improved support for Windows scaling, which is often used with high resolution screens.
• Performance improvements.
Features
Profile viewing: Pavement Profile Standard File (.ppf); UMTRI (.erd, .bin); Ames (.ldf, .adf); Dynatest (.rsp); TxDOT (.txt, .dat, .pro); and KJ Law (.a*, .p*).Profile Editing: Manipulate profile data in many aspects, including cropping and filtering.Ride Statistics: Report ride indexes such as International Roughness Index (IRI), Half-car Roughness Index (HRI), Mean Roughness Index (MRI), and Ride Number (RN).Power Spectral Density (PSD): Analyze the wavelength or frequency contents of profiles.Profilograph Simulation: Simulate Profilograph traces, report Profilograph Indices, etc.Rolling Straightedge Simulation: Simulate Rolling Straightedge traces.Profile Synchronization: Synchronize profiles and determine their repeatability/accuracy based on cross correlation.Profiler Certification: Produce repeatability tests and accuracy tests for profiler certification programs.Precision and Bias: Classify profilers based on the ASTM E950 standard.Smoothness Assurance Module (SAM): Provide ride quality reports and improve smoothness from pavement grinding simulation.Automated Fault Measurement (AFM): Automatically identify joint locations and estimate joint faulting from profile data.Optimal WIM Locator (OWL): Evaluate Weight-in-Motion measurement errors based on profile data.Curling and Warping: Automatically calculate the JCP curling/warping index from profile data and joint locations.Profile Screener: Automatically detects various issues of profiles.
What's new
Complete release notes for 4.0 can be viewed in the software or on www.roadprofile.com
4.0.66
File Import
• Change: Import of ERD files using formatted floating-point (text) has changed. When the FORMAT keyword is empty and data is not available for all channels for each record, the import will fail. Previously, the import would succeed but stop reading the file when missing data was encountered.
Analysis: Ride Quality
• Fix: The KML/KMZ export for the Fixed-interval analysis only had the correct coordinates for the first selection.
Analysis: Rolling Straightedge
• Change: Leave-outs are now removed from the analysis.
Miscellaneous
• Performance improvements.
• Security updates for third-party components.
• Stability improvements.
4.0.64
Reports
• Fix: Regression in previous version caused some reports to not be generated.
Miscellaneous
• Stability improvements.
