Overview
This is the fifth book in the Plain Language series. It uses the same format as the other books to develop the theory behind a very simple mathematical concept which is widely used in everyday life. It includes interactive apps.
Many 'different' school topics share this logical structure, however the differences between them are often simply a matter of how they are viewed. Different perspectives have led to historically unique applications, each with its own terminology.
By focusing on the underlying task this book collapses the separate topics into one mathematical category.
One of the goals of this book is to have students learn to anticipate how key concepts might be relevant in a new topic. This allows them to utilise their existing knowledge to make good progress within the structure of the new topic.
